News Update: February 7, 2008
Dear Reader,
Many thanks for overwhelming response to the New Year greetings and reiterating your dedication to the ICHA objective of continuous improvement in Healthcare delivery.
The year 2008 began with all the hopes of plentiful activities. We have initiated a number of projects. As these take off your expertise would be required in implementation. A number of major events are also on the anvil and will be announced as finalized.
The highlights are:
- Expanded Board of Directors: The new board of Directors and advisors has met twice in December January to deliberate on numerous issues, especially activities and projects.
- Guidelines for Incentives: The board has formulated guidelines for giving cash incentive to ICHA fraternity initiator and play a key role. This is applicable for PROJECTS, GRANTS/DONATIONS, SPONSORSHIPS AND ADVERTISEMENTS. The details are available on request. Your active contribution is necessary.
- Formation of Committees: The following committees have been finalized with respective chairs. You are requested to volunteer and contribute to these:
- Fund-raising Committee: Chairs Mr. Bejon Misra (CCC) and Mr. Kamal Singh (AIMA).
- Liaison Committee: Chairs Dr. Rajesh Upadhyay (API) and Ar. Vijay Garg (IIA).
- Projects and Programmes Committee: Chair Dr. M. R. Surwade (IAMI)
- Membership Committee: Chair Maj. Gen. (Retd) Ashim Chakravarti (AHA)
- Publications Committee: Chairs Dr. S. Sadasivam (ASI) and Dr. Baljit Singh (ISA).
More committees as necessary and as per your suggestions will be formed. Please volunteer your interest in participating as member of the above committees. - Dermatologists Association joins ICHA: The fraternity has become stronger with Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) having become the subscriber member.
- Affiliate Contributions: Dr. P. V. Bokil had organised a meet at Sancheti Hospital on 24th January 2008 in Pune. With active participation of over 50 participants, Dr. Sangal made a detailed presentation about ICHA, its plans and programmes.
- Projects and Programmes: We have been actively pursuing a number of projects which are just taking off. We have had initial discussions. We are also collaborating with other organizations in pursuance of the same.
The various annual conferences of members have concluded or about to happen. Please share your contribution and news for dissemination.
OBITUARY: The sad and untimely demise of Dr. Addep Bagati from the ICHA fraternity is regretfully noted with a heavy heart. A condolence message on behalf ICHA fraternity was sent.

News Update: 29 September, 2007
Dear Reader,
The AGM and 3rd Annual meeting of ICHA at New Delhi was a grand success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of member Associations and ICHA fraternity. We had a lively session discussing the developments and future plans. The ICHA model of Consensus based best practices Support in implementation Recognition of successful implementers by rewarding them with Accreditation was emphasized. The need for comprehensive excellence in all areas was reiterated.
The developments so far and future plans were extensively discussed. The meeting was partly sponsored by Dr. Vijay Mahajan of Tagore Heart & Research Pvt. Ltd. Jalandhar. Tagore Heart is an Organisational Affiliate of ICHA. Thanks and kudos to them.
The major outcomes were:
1. Expanded Board of Directors: Nominations received from member associations were noted and new directors were inducted to the Board. The list would be circulated and posted on the web page on completion of formalities soon. We look forward to their active direction in taking ICHA to its avowed goals speedily. 2. Advisory Council to the Board: It was unanimously decided to form an advisory council comprising former directors and major individual contributors to ICHA. Dr. Rajan Madhok from UK was selected as Advisor Overseas Affairs. Congrats! We shall benefit from their continued contributions and rich experience.
3. Launch of New Brochure and Communication: Prof. R. C. Misra, Gen. S. K. Biswas and Gen. S. Venkataraman unveiled the new brochure, cover and communication to hospitals. These have been uploaded on ICHA web page. Please view them and give your comments and suggestions for future improvements.

These communications are being sent to over 2000 hospitals all over India inviting them to join and travel the journey to Excellence with ICHA. The database was provided by Dr. Anil Kumar. His contribution was applauded.
Please let us know your requirement of the brochure copies or send us your database of hospitals for mailing the communication. Your contribution is solicited.
4. Future Programmes: Regional conventions on lines of Bangalore Convention are being planned at Madurai, Jaipur, Goa, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Trichur and Rohtak over the next few months. The enthusiastic initiative from ICHA fraternity is needed for more such programmes. The details shall be progressively communicated on finalization of each event.
The member Associations shall promote these programs and ensure active involvement and participation of their local chapters.
5. Funding, Empanelment and Projects: You are already aware of the ICHA empanelment by DFID India. We are actively pursuing partners for the above programmes. In addition we are pursuing health systems strengthening projects. We all need to actively pursue enlargement of ICHA fraternity to reach our goals faster.
6. The Directors and member associations agreed to actively pursue awareness dissemination and participation in ICHA during their forthcoming Annual Conferences. Dr. Shishta Basu shall be making the presentation during TUBES 2007 at Kolkata, October 18-20, 07.
