Colleagues
During the past year under the able leadership of our
President Dr. Sujata Grover we continued academic
activities to more forward. It gives me immense pleasure
to give a brief account of the activities of Chandigarh
Ophthalmological Society. Annual Conference of COS was
successfully held on March 3, 2002. Dr. J. K. Pasricha,
former President of All India Ophthalmological Society
was awarded
Dr. A. D. Grover Memorial oration. Dr. Pasricha stressed
the need of making latest technique of cataract surgery
i.e. phacoemulsification to the rural masses.Dr. S. Bharti, New Delhi and Dr. J. S. Tityal R P Centre
for ophthalmologic sciences on refractive surgery and
speciality contact lenses respectively. Dr. D.C. Bansal
presented complications of kerato refractive surgery.
The distinguished speakers also included our own
members of the society. The meeting was well attended
and Ophthalmologies even from far off places like Shimla,
Dharmshala, Patiala, Ludhiana and other places. You will
find glimpses of some of the presentations in the
current issue of Newsletter of Chandigarh
Ophthalmological Society.
In our monthly academic meetings, we
were able to invite distinguished Ophthalmologies from
with in the country and overseas. Dr. V.S. Nirnkari
(USA),
Dr. Vinod Lakhanpal (USA), Dr. Ashok Grover (New Delhi),
Dr. Devinder Sood, Prof Amod Gupta,
Dr. Jagat Ram, Dr. M.R. Dogra, Dr. Kanwar Mohan and Dr.
S. S. Pandav, have been our speakers in the monthly
academic meetings.
I am pleased to inform you that despite some
difficulties we have been regular in bringing out
Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society Newsletter. I want
to thank members of the executive and members of
Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society for their active
support. I shall be banking upon you for your active
support to carry these activities further.
