Helping kids with Down's syndrome   Posted By DR. D. K. CHOAPDE    Date : 08-Dec-08   12:17 AM     Reply

We have formed the "Indian Down's Syndrome Association", the only one of its kind to cater the needs of kids with the DS and their parents. There are on an average 60 DS births each day in India and what is very fraustrating is the inappropriate and inadequate basic counseling given by the attending clinicians to the parents of these ckildren. In absence of the accurate genetic counseling about what the condition is, what it means for their child and them, what is the prognosis, where can they get help, how the life of the child and also the family can be made better and hopefull........ and so on the parents find it very difficult to cope up with the situation.... With through IDSA are seraching for those doctors, clinicians, parents who can help these families with the help of IDSA all over the country......
