Malignant hyperthermia   Posted By Pawan    Date : 22-Sep-03   06:04 PM     Reply

Malignant hyperthermia is a potentially lethal pharmacogenetic disorder with autosomal dominant inheritance that can be triggered in susceptible persons by exposure to commonly used inhalational anesthetics, such as halothane, or depolarizing muscle relaxants, such as succinylcholine. Patients react with acidosis, hypoxia, masseter or generalized muscle contracture, a rapid rise in body temperature, and rhabdomyolysis. Is there any data base for this situation in India? I am unable to come across any such literature.
