Recurring club foot for 3 year old kid   Posted By Krithika Venkatesan    Date : 09-Jan-08   12:02 PM     Reply

Hi,

I am mother of a 3 year old kid, living in Hyderabad. My son was born with multiple congenital anomalies (syndactaly, cleft lip/palate, club foot in the right leg). His club foot condition was corrected 2 times (first time - 2 months old, second time - 1 year and 8 months old). Now, the club foot has relapsed again (he is 3 now) and the ortho is suggesting Cincinati release (but no guarantee that the condition would not relapse). Additional complication is that he does not have motor or sensory nerves down his ankle and hence no foot movement. Is there any alternative possible for my kid? Averaging 1 surgery a year, is getting very difficult especially when the recuperation (cost and restriction of mobility) time is 2 1/2 months.

I have learnt from Net, that Osteopathy is a branch of Allopathy? Will Osteopathy suit my son? Are there any hospitals in India practicising Osteopathy for club foot conditions.

Your inputs will help a kid grow up in lesser pain and be more active.

Thanks, Krithika
