Examination: MRT SCAN Unit : NU2

Indication: Low back pain with radiation to right lower limb? lumbar canal stenosis with L4-5 disc disease. X-ray shows L3 listhesis.

Findings: Grade 1 listhesis of L3 on L4 noted. Loss of normal T2 signal intensity is noted in all the lumber discs except L5-S1. Type 2 degenerative changes are noted in the L3 and L5 vertebrae. At L1-2, the disc and neural foraminae are normal. At L2-3, disc and neural foraminae are normal. Bony canal is reduced in calibre from the level of L2 to L5. At L3-4, near total obliteration of the thecal sac. The bony canal is reduced in calibre from the level of L2 to L5. At L3-4, near total obliteration of the calibre with evidence of a mild diffuse discs Prolapse. Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is noted. Fluid is noted in the facets. The neural foraminae are normal. At l4-5, there is near total obliteration of the thecal sac. The bony canal is Small. In addtion there is a diffuse disc prolapse. Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is noted. Fluid is noted in the left facet. Neural foraminae are normal. At L5-S1, the disc and the neural foramine are normal.

Impression: 1. Gr.1 listhesis L3 over l4 with no evidence of lysis. A few CT slices can be done to confirm, free of cost. 2. Decreased dimension of the bony canal from the level of L2 to L5. Disc prolapse and ligamentum flavum hypertrophy at L3-4 and l4-5 causing near Total obliteration of the thecal sac.
