Initiative taken by MCI to regulate Hospital administration. Posted By Prem Prakash Date : 13-Oct-07
Recently MCI deputed a committee to give gidelines to hospital administration running institution. How far MCI can control this speciality remain a question mark on its intelligence & competency . currently hospital administration has taken a vast coverage due to inclusion of various degrees (Hospital management /Healthcare management /Administration/non -clinical administration/health education administration) speciality from management to accountancy & IT are now common subjects in various courses. How it would be possible to draft and regulate courses where a person itself is not qualified to understand (can a doctor be a programmer without any formal education). MCI cannot have control over degrees Like MBA ,BA ,BSC, MSC as all jurisdiction goes to AICTE & University(UGC) So why now MCI has taken a step that is completely against its juridiction & why it has taken so long . I expect that this is not the job of MCI it should be taken up by Central goverment which can take recommendation from all concern agencies also including MCI. Constitutional role should be very much clear before taking any step and I think complete jurisdiction currently remains with the Minstry of Health not MCI. This speciality(HA) has a very bright future as well as direct role over the development of indian economy & therefore it could not be left over to institutions who are themself not well competent to understand and handle it.
