Open Source Hospital Information Systems -   Posted By Vipen Mahajan    Date : 27-Jul-07   03:53 PM     Reply

Hi, We are interested teaching/training Hospital Administrators in HIS, electronic health records, and the use of IT in health care. I am evangelizing that project. With the serious need to make health care systems more productive and cost effective, around the globe, particularly the US, the ageing population, their is a big potential of standardizing medical practices, processes and information systems.

I intend forming a discussion group/wiki on the topic so like minded people, clinicians and non-clinicians to re-engineer hospital/health care practices in India and align them to global standards. I personally have over 40 years of IT, re-engineering and management/consulting experience, in India and abroad. No prior IT exposure is required, however PC usage and skills (which can be learnt in a week or so from the many schools/teach shops around the country) and access to the Internet, preferably broadband would be a requisite.
