Prevention of HIV & Hepatitis cross infection.   Posted By Dr. Debasish Mandal    Date : 11-Jun-00   11:52 AM     Reply

Ophthalmologist, while examining a patient may get into contact with tear of the patient. The tonometer and trial contact lenses also may accumulate tear on them. Can HIV or Hepatitis spread this way from patient to Ophthalmologist or to other patients. How to prevent? Are Gloves,Virucidal solution (Inacthive),or contact lens cleaning solutions sufficient to prevent cross infection?
