Duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD)   Posted By Ch. M. Zulfiqar    Date : 31-Mar-06   04:57 AM     Reply

My 2-years old grand son has some muscular weakness problem. He can not walk fast like other children of his age & if he tries to, he fells down, he has also difficulty in standing from sitting position. Once he stands-up by holding chair etc. he has no difficulty in walking at normal speed. After some tests, Doctors have diagnosed that he is suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). His CPK is 10,000. What is DMD? Information taken from http://www.hopkinsneuro.org/muscular_dystrophy/disease_and_condition_detail.cfm?condition_id=61

Symptoms usually appear in males 1 to 6 years old. By age 10, braces may be required for walking, and by age 12, most patients are confined to a wheelchair. Bones may develop abnormally, causing skeletal deformities of the spine and other areas due to contractures. Muscular weakness and skeletal deformities contribute to frequent breathing disorders. Cardiomyopathy occurs in almost all cases. Intellectual impairment occurs in approximately 30% of Duchenne's patients, but does not worsen as the disorder progresses. Duchenne muscular dystrophy occurs in approximately 1 out of 3,500 males.

Apparently my grand son looks a cute healthy normal child at the moment, he is an intelligent boy who has started learning & talking new words as other children do in this age but after this diagnostic you can not imagine how much worried we all are by just thinking that what is going to happen with him during coming years.

I have consulted many Neurologists here, Unfortunately there is no treatment in Allopathy as of today except giving some sort of steroids which also have bad side effects.

I heard that Homeopathic treatment is doing miracles, the diseases which are not treatable in Allopathy are being treated in Homeopathy.

With great hope, I am writing you this e-mail. Pls. let me know the following:

1.. Is it a known disease in Homeopathy & is there any treatment of it? 2.. What is the success rate of this treatment? 3.. Can a treatment be started right now? I am residing in Lahore, Pakistan & will appreciate if you pls. recommend me some experienced Homeopathic practitioner here.

God bless you
